I choose Tarja Turunen, coz she has a 'high' voice that could bring the 'opera' nuance and very 'specific' one

Lot of great singers have been named here, but do not forget one of the best voices if not absolutely the best voice:

Emma Kirby

Just listen to some Vivaldi sung by her!

Enjoy.

1) Annie Haslam (renaissance)

2) Lara Fabian

3) KAte Melua

4) Kate Bush

5) Ann Wilson

and the list can continue...

Clare Tori... She's again on Roger Waters' "Radio KAOS"... BTW, now, she's credited in the composing of 'the great gig...' after a long trial  Wink
As vocalist, she was nicknamed "one shot" in the recording studios : she just needed one take and her vocal parts were in the box...

About the topic, I'd say I'd have problems to choose between Kate Bush, Sarah Vaughn and Rowanne Mark (on Allan Holdsworth's "secrets", b.e, although she's not singer anymore)

My no 1 is still Grace Slick unreached  like Janis Joplin.
Most of the others named previously, but will not repeat, better add some other great voices like
Janis Ian, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Flora Purim, Angelique Kidjo,
Oum Kalthoum, Lakshmi Shankar, R.A. Ramamani, Abbey Lincoln, Dianne Reeves, Cassandra Wilson, Carole King, Tammy Wynette,
Renate Knaup, Ingeburg Thomsen, Nina Hagen and not to forget
nonsinger Nico

Very hard to choose from one of these if you look at best voice, charme, charisma and personality together

Grace Slick, Kate Bush, Sonja Kristina, Jerney Kaagman (the first two on all)

If you look only at best beauty voice the list increase and choosing would be a bad thing

Donella del Monaco (very according with Eelafree), Annie Haslam, Jane Relf, Turid and so on...
